Admission Process

River Oaks Admissions Process

Students are often referred to us throughout the year by school counselors, psychiatrists, mental health workers and community service providers. However, many parents initiate the admissions process on their own. Gaining admission is a three-stage process...

  1. Initial interview

In the initial admissions interview, we meet with prospective students and their caretakers to exchange information about services and needs. It's a great time to tour the campus and meet the staff. If you'd like, you can fill out our enrollment form before your visit to save time.

  2. Needs assessment

During the needs assessment, we'll review transcripts, grades and evaluation records from previous schools or service providers, and we'll discuss the desired services.

  3. Program recommendations

Following the needs assessment, we'll recommend a program for the student. Once the program recommendations have been accepted, a service contract and an individualized academic plan are developed.

Tuition for the academic component may be paid by contract or privately. The rate depends on the needs of the student.

Therapeutic services may be covered by health insurance policies. Criteria for treatment authorization are discussed at intake with a counselor during the admissions process to determine financial and insurance arrangements. School districts in the Houston area may contract services for students needing a small therapeutic environment.
